I got a question for ya.

What does this city know about magic? Huh? What does a town that’s been to hell and back know about the finer things in life?

Well I’ll tell ya. More than most. You see, it’s the hottest looms that make the hottest magic. Add hard work and conviction and the know-how that runs generations deep in every last one of us. That’s who we are. That’s our story.

Now it’s probably not the one you’ve been reading in papers, the one that’s been written by people who have never even been here and don’t know what we’re capable of. Because when it comes to magic, it’s as much about where it’s from as who it’s for.

Now we’re from Oz. But this isn’t The City of Thi. Or Evna City. Or the sunken city of the Skeezers. And we’re certainly no-one’s Motor City.

This is the Emerald City. And this is what we do.

Times got pretty tough for a while there. The Wizard got shown up for the big fraud he was. Took off in his balloon, left us hanging. That was when the Emerald City was a big joke to the rest of Oz. Nobody came here to buy magic. They all said, hell, we have two Good Witches plus Ix and Ev and Mo and all the rest. What do we need those green guys for?

The Emerald City had some bad moments. No green pennies to buy green lemonade. No money to keep the green lights on. Lots of people left. Some days the city seemed empty. Yeah, it was rough.

But it takes guts to wear the green lenses. The people of the Emerald City are strong. We were strong before the Wizard showed up, and we’ll still be strong when nobody remembers he was even here. We know how to bounce back from the hard times. Yeah, the Wizard talked big talk about magic, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have magic all our own.

We’re making flying carpets. We weave them from blue Munchkin thread and yellow Winkie thread. Blue and Yellow make Green, and that spells Magic, friend. We weave them on green looms, hand-made, using one hundred percent Emerald City can-do attitude. And when we do a job, we make sure it’s done right.

People are starting to notice. People are starting to look up when they go outside, see a green flash in the sky, and wonder. They’re wondering if that big green city on the horizon is really empty. They’re not sure the Wizard is really gone.

Oh, he’s gone, people. But he left the magic behind, and it kicked him in the butt when he went out the door. Now it’s still living in the Emerald City, pacing like the King of the Lions, frustrated. Hungry.

We’re still here. We’re still building. We’re making carpets, friend; carpets that can take ya to the four corners of Oz. And where you’re going, ya don’t need Yellow Brick Roads.

So wake up. You’re not living in a dream. You’re not imagining a sky full of green flashes of people going where they want to go. This is Oz. And we’re bringing ya the magic, importing it from the Emerald City, the place where people know how it’s done. Buckle up.
