Haven't quit on the Nightworld piece, but I am short on time lately.

Oh, you young lads with your exotic Cesium isotopes and your fancy Lanthanides. For you the universe is your oyster, and cheap fission is your shelling knife as you go sailing between the planets on your sky-barges. You see yourselves as Gods, but you cannot know how easy you've got it. Now when I was young, those were heady times for an energy-man. Then we were just learning the basics as we went, standing directly upon the shoulders of the giants of science – Newton, who correctly proposed atomic theory, and Lavoisier, who successfully split the atom. No simple designer elements for us, by Jove! That was when the Empire hadn't conquered all, when Gaia still held the tethers to Man's ambition, and when Cobalt was King.
