No Love, Butterfly

Deep in the jungles of Paraguay
Lives the maleficent butterfly
Who, by the teachings of Ed Lorenz,
Brings about chaos and gruesome ends.

Here's a tsunami in Shikoku,
There is an earthquake in Kathmandu,
Comes now a twister in Dripping Springs
All when a butterfly flaps its wings.

Is this an innocent arthropod
Blameless of blasphemy under God?
Or must there sinister purpose lie
Deep in the heart of the butterfly?

Watch as it flexes its ailerons
Scattering mayhem and far-flung wrongs
Will you find guilt in its compound eyes?
No; only apathy therein lies.

Cold Lepidopteran; insect foe
Why make the hurricane rage and blow?
Order; tranquility - both things are
Found in my net and my killing jar.
