Yes, yes. That’s a very nice Christmas story. Yes, with the elves and the presents and all that other rubbish. Of course it’s nothing like the way things really happened.
Of course it really happened! It’s just like all the other tales that get told and retold, don’t you know – they all have a germ of the truth at their heart. And there’s a germ of the truth here, too, but it has nothing to do with jolly fat men climbing down chimneys! As if that could really happen, harrumph!
Oh, pooh-pooh yourselves, you thick-skulled youngsters. I’ll tell the tale the way it should be told – without filling childrens’ heads with silly stuff, but simply relating the facts!
